Hello and welcome to football.london's live Tottenham blog on Wednesday!

It may only be June 15 but the summer transfer window is already in full swing. Spurs have been among the busiest Premier League clubs, having already secured the signings of Fraser Forster and Ivan Perisic.

Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma has been strongly linked with a move to north London and it's been reported that the 25-year-old is set to undergo a medical this week. The club have fought off interest from the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Aston Villa and Bissouma looks destined to join Antonio Conte's side this summer.

Christian Eriksen, Richarlison, Djed Spence and Victor Osimhen are among the other names linked with a move to the Lilywhites this transfer window. With around £150million to spend, it's expected Conte and Fabio Paratici will be busy men between now and the end of the window.

With that in mind, sit back and let football.london keep you posted with the latest news and rumours from north London.

Three ways Yves Bissouma could fit into Antonio Conte system

Tottenham have already acted fast in the summer window, as Antonio Conte aims to take Spurs to the next level following the club securing Champions League football last season.

Ivan Persisc and Fraiser Forster have both been signed on free transfers, with the club now looking to bolster their midfield options with Yves Bissouma.

A fee of £25 million has been agreed with Brighton for the 25-year-old's services and football.london understands that Bissouma is on his way to north London to complete his transfer.

Tottenham told why Jesse Lingard transfer won't fulfill Antonio Conte's hopes

The summer transfer window has been open for just under a week, meaning old Tottenham links are resurfacing and new ones are coming to light. Spurs have already signed Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster on two-year free deals and young goalkeeper Josh Keeley.

Yves Bissouma seems to be the next on the list, with the current Brighton midfielder expected to undergo a medical on Thursday, after a reported £25million fee was agreed earlier this week. This would take Tottenham's tally up to four signings, for both the present and the future.

This will only give Antonio Conte a boost, ahead of what is expected to be a tough pre-season, before a big 2022/23 campaign. The Lilywhites will hope they can climb the table even further next season and win some much-needed silverware.

Premier League make major fixtures decision that will impact Tottenham

The Premier League are set to scrap games played between Boxing Day and New Year in a bid to ease player burnout after the 2022 Qatar World Cup, according to The Telegraph. The report adds that fixtures played on December 28 will be moved to counter concerns regarding the Boxing Day return to domestic duties, which comes just eight days after the final.

The report adds that the Premier League will officially announce that the festive calendar will only include Boxing Day, New Year's Eve and January 2. It's believed that the English Football League will also adjust fixtures to ease player burnout, with its Christmas calendar including only three matchdays - December 26, December 29 and January 1.

Giovani Lo Celso transfer update given as Tottenham close to securing Yves Bissouma deal

The future of Giovani Lo Celso at Tottenham is still uncertain, with the summer transfer window opening just under a week ago. The Argentine spent the second half of the season on loan at Villarreal, after struggling to fit into Antonio Conte's system and get regular game time.

Lo Celso made 16 La Liga appearances, starting in seven of those matches, scoring one goal and registering an assist. After a loan spell in the 2019/20 season, the midfielder made the permanent move to N17 in early 2020 and has made 84 appearances in all competitions for the club.

Bergwijn 'godsend'

Netherlands boss Louis van Gaal has described Steven Bergwijn as a 'godsend' following a string of good performances with the national team.

The Spurs midfielder has played in all eight of the Ntherlands' previous eight matches and scored five goals, most recently netting in the 4-1 win over Belgium in the Nations League.

Speaking to Voetbal International, he said:

Look at what Steven Bergwijn has accomplished, although he didn’t have minutes at Tottenham. That was just a godsend. Donyell Malen got injured, which is very annoying, and then I have to call Steven and ask him if he still wanted to come.

He came, he came in, he came in well and put in a fantastic run of games. In my eyes, that was a godsend, because that’s what I was looking for. The search doesn’t stop at Bergwijn, but it’s sometimes that simple. And the question is also: what is Bergwijn going to do? Will he stay at Tottenham Hotspur or will he move to a new club? Every player has his own problem and his own choice.

Deulofeu links

Spurs have been linked with a move for former Everton, Watford and Barcelona forward Gerard Deulofeu.

The 28-year-old is currently plying his trade in Italy with Udinese where he recently enjoyed a fruitful season in front of goal, scoring 13 times and laying on five assists in 34 appearances for Andrea Sottil’s team.

His form had led to several clubs being interested in his signature, with Corriere dello Sport suggesting that Spurs are one of the teams with an eye on Deulofeu.

KEY EVENT

Declan Rice to Spurs

Spurs have been told to spend their money on signing West Ham's Declan Rice instead of Richarlison this summer.

Speaking to Lord Ping, Spurs legend Teddy Sheringham reckons the Hammers midfielder would help take Tottenham to another level.

You need players that are going to take you to the next level and I don’t think Richarlison is one of them. I don't think he’s the ideal man to make a statement for Tottenham. If you're going to make a statement, and West Ham fans won't like me for this, then go and get Declan Rice.

He is an unbelievable player. And he's good for the next eight years. He's the man to take us to the next level. These big players don't come around very often, but signing him would make a statement because he is immense every time he plays. He would make a statement to say we're going places, and that's what you want.

Champions League not essential for Eriksen

Christian Eriksen is a transfer target for both Spurs and Manchester United after the Danish playmaker told Brentford he would not be extending his deal in west London.

Tottenham's pull of having Champions League football next season would initially seem to be a big pull for them to win the race for his signature, but Eriksen has previously said that playing in Europe's top club competition is 'not essential' to him.

Speaking to Viaplay this year he said: "I have different offers and options, which we are considering, and then we make a decision. I would love to play Champions League football again. I know how much fun it is, but it isn't essential for me."

Spurs can leave Chelsea in the dust

Shaun Wright-Phillips reckons that Tottenham could leave Chelsea behind next season as Antonio Conte's transfer window looks to be pushing them from strength to strength.

Spurs only finished three points behind the Blues in the Premier League last season and didn't appoint Conte until November, with the team ending the campaign strongly after adjusting to the Italian's methods.

Now former England winger Wright-Phillips says Conte could leave his former side in the dust as Spurs kick on next season. Speaking to Genting Casino he said:

I can see Chelsea getting left behind by Tottenham. They became so resilient towards the back end of the season and were so good on the counter attack. Antonio Conte is a great manager and the club seems to be opening the cheque-book for him so he'll make things very difficult for the teams around him.

Kane's Southgate plea

Harry Kane has come out in strong support of England manager Gareth Southgate following the Three Lions' 4-0 defeat to Hungary on Tuesday night.

The result keeps them rock bottom of their Nations League group with only two games left before the start of the World Cup in Qatar, with some even questioning if Southgate should remain in charge for the tournament.

But Kane has insisted that the current manager is the right man to take England forward, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live he said:

It’s a really disappointing question to be asked. Let’s not forget where we have come from. Gareth has been a key part of transforming this England team to one of the most successful sides we have had in the past 50 years.

Raphinha battle

Spurs will battle Arsenal for the signing of Leeds United star Raphinha this summer, according to reports.

The Brazilian winger has been in discussions with Barcelona over a move to the Camp Nou though there are concerns that the Catalan club will not be able to stump up the cash required to secure his signature.

That would leave North London rivals Spurs and Arsenal to battle it out to sign Raphinha, though Tottenham would reportedly prefer a deal for his international teammate Richarlison from Everton.
